Eric Swalwell's Meltdown Over Photo

This is funny.

Rep. Eric Swalwell had a bit of a meltdown during a congressional hearing over a AI photo of former President Donald Trump with a duck and a cat.

According to the Western Journal:

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California appeared to lose it at a Congressional hearing Tuesday over a comical image of former President Donald Trump protecting a cat and a duck.

The GOP House Judiciary Committee shared the computer-generated image on social media platform X with the caption, “Protect our ducks and kittens in Ohio.”

The picture is in reference to an unsubstantiated account from a Springfield, Ohio, resident given at a recent city commission meeting that Haitian migrants are killing and eating ducks from public parks.

Zuckerberg Admits To Being Part of Censorship Scheme

This is one of those things where I can easily say, "I'm not at all surprised." 

A "little late and with phony contrition," Zuckerberg admits that Facebook was a part of the Biden-Harris censorship scheme. This was after Rep. Jim Jordan's House Judiciary Committee forced Zuckerberg to release documents.

Fox News Opinion (Jonathan Turley) wrote this:

"I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it." Those words from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg came this week with an admission in a letter that his company, Facebook, did yield to pressure from the Biden-Harris administration to censor American citizens on a wide array of subjects.

For those of us who have criticized Facebook for years for its role in the massive censorship system, Zuckerberg's belated contrition was more insulting than inspiring. It had all of the genuine regret as a stalker found hiding under the bed of a victim.

Zuckerberg's sudden regret only came after his company fought for years to conceal the evidence of its work with the government to censor opposing views. Zuckerberg was finally compelled to release the documents by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and the House Judiciary Committee.

Stop Extreme Gun Control Package

On a party-line vote, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives Judiciary Committee passed a horrible gun control bill. It is heading to house vote as early as this week.

This bill must be defeated.

According to the NRA-ILA:

Late last week, the House Judiciary Committee rammed through an extreme package of gun control measures on a party-line vote. If this terrible legislation becomes law, tens of millions of law-abiding gun owners would be turned into felons and their lawfully-acquired property would be subject to confiscation by federal agents. Nancy Pelosi plans to bring this to the U.S. House floor for a vote this week. 

The bill, H.R. 7910, which was introduced and heard in committee in a matter of only three days, is a conglomeration of numerous other gun control bills.

NM Senate Judiciary Committee Passes "Red Flag" Bill

Minutes ago, the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association posted the following:

The "Red-Flag" gun confiscation bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee by a vote of 6-5. Democrat Senator Richard Martinez joined the Committee Republicans in voting against the bill. The bill will now head to the Senate floor. Contact your senators ASAP to tell them to oppose the bill!

While you eat dinner and prepare to go to sleep tonight, our brave sheriffs are standing against tyranny at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe. They have just received a threat of PERSONAL liability if they refuse to comply with the Red Flag law. Keep in mind this new version of the bill was never disclosed to them ahead of time. It was a cowardly sucker punch. Please pray for them and thank them for their courage.

It is interesting that the counties who declared themselves Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties did so before any "red flag" law was introduced in this legislative session. By doing so, those counties put Santa Fe on notice that they won't enforce any such law that is enacted. They are disregarding the sheriffs and pushing this law anyway. The liability, it would appear, is on the Governor and legislature.

 

NM Senate Judiciary Committee To Consider "Red Flag" Bill Today

The NRA-ILA sent out a notice about today's meeting of the New Mexico Senate Judiciary Committee that will consider Senate Bill, the "red flag" gun confiscation legislation backed by Gov. "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan Grisham.

They wrote:

In spite of the fact that more than 500 law-abiding New Mexicans and law enforcement officers rallied against Senate Bill 5 -- "red flag" gun confiscation legislation -- this past Friday, anti-gun Senators appear poised to do Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's bidding by fast-tracking this extremely flawed bill.  

The New Mexico Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider SB 5 tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5, at 2:30pm in Room 321 of the Capitol in Santa Fe.  NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters must pack the hearing room to show their continued opposition to this measure which shuns due process and tramples on civil liberties.  Firearms have once again been PROHIBITED at the hearing and verbal testimony will be limited.  NRA-ILA has been told that written testimony may be submitted by anyone appearing in-person who is not able to speak on the bill.

Rep. Doug Collins Rakes Rep. Jerry Nadler Over "Red Flag Laws"

Those who are regular readers of this blog know that I am adamantly opposed to the so-called "red flag" laws that the Democrats (and some Republicans) are backing after having been subjected to Commiefornia's (California, in case you are dense) "red flag" law in a restraining order application three years ago.

Ranking House Judiciary Committee member, Rep. Doug Collins, raked committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler over the coals over proposed "red flag laws".

On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee held a markup hearing on various pieces of gun control legislation. While discussing HR1236, the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019, commonly referred to as red flag laws, Ranking Member Doug Collins (R-GA) took swipes at Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY). In the past, Nadler has dubbed himself as someone who values civil liberties and due process. But, of course, we know that red flag laws defy both of those principles.  

"Mr. Chairman, thank you again for holding this markup today. Like you, I am concerned about addressing this important issue, addressing the issue of mass shootings to combating the discouraging laws plaguing our urban communities. I stand ready to work with you on sensible solutions that will, that could actually prevent, these atrocities. What I am not willing to do is support legislation that will not do anything to make us safer and will simultaneously infringes on the rights and liberties guaranteed by our Constitution. Unfortunately, all three of the bills we're considering today will do just that," Collins explained. "First, we'll be considering HR1236, the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019. While this bill may seem like a common sense measure, it's flawed in far too many ways to be worthy of this Committee's support." 

"Five months ago in an interview, one of the statements given by the Chairman, and you said this to one of your hometown papers: 'My original motive in politics, from the time I was probably 12-years-old, was civil rights, civil liberties and due process and I've always concentrated on them and that's why I've never changed,'" Collins quoted. 

Collins laid out the lack of due process and how that's dangerous to Americans' Second Amendment rights.  

"Well, I'm not sure what's changed but the bill before us today has some serious due process problems. Namely, the bill allows for confiscation of individual's firearms without notice or without an opportunity to be heard," Collins explained. "Even more egregious is the fact that ex-parte determination can be determined when a judge finds there's a 'reasonable cause' to believe the individual possesses a danger to himself or others [while] having access to a firearm. 'Reasonable cause' isn't even 'probably cause.' It's certainly less than clear and convincing evidence. Do we really want to surrender Americans' Constitutional rights to such a low standard without giving those citizens notice or an opportunity to be heard? What other rights are we willing to sacrifice in this manner?"

Sen. Lindsey Graham and "Red Flag Law"

This evening, I sent Sen. Lindsey Graham an email on the topic of a nationwide "red flag" gun confiscation law. Graham is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee who is considering a nationwide "red flag law".

As I was subjected to a vengeful ex three years ago when she filed a false restraining order on me that included the provision that I surrender my firearms to either the police (which I did) or to a licensed gun dealer, my experience (which I told him about) should be taken into consideration by the committee.

While the whole process ultimately ended in my favor and I was able to get all my firearms back, it still cost me some money to do so.

What I told Sen. Graham, since the senate seems hellbent on passing a "red flag law", I urged that provisions in such a law should include reimbursement of all costs incurred by the wronged party by the vindictive "settle a score" party who filed the false restraining order. I also suggested punitive damages be included. This is the only way to prevent similar abuses of the law that I experienced.

We'll see if I get a response and what it may be.
