Ammo Prices Set To Rise 'Substantially'

There's an old saying, "Keep your powder dry!" This basically means to wait before taking action, but be ready to take action if it is necessary.

The powder refers to gunpower. 

For those who have stockpiled ammunition, the possible shortage of gunpowder will have less of an impact. But for those who haven't, keep what you have ready for possible necessary use. Also, you may want to start stockpiling ammo before prices start climbing.

Ammunition prices are set to rise "substantially" due to an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder.

MSN reported:

Vista Outdoor, a parent company to many firearms businesses, told Newsweek that it will substantially increase its ammunition prices due to "an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder."

The Minnesota-based company confirmed the authenticity of a December 1 letter sent to customers that it would go ahead with an across-the-board increase of its ammunition and gunpowder prices on January 1.

"Due to world events our suppliers have notified us of unprecedented demand for and an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder, and thus has increased our prices substantially," Vice President of Sales, Sporting Products Brett Nelson said in the letter. "We must therefore raise our pricing to help offset those increases."

Kamala Weaponizing Banks Against American Gun Owners

Democrats have been hell-bent on attacking our Second Amendment rights. That has been no secret. 

They are trying to weaponize banks and other financial institutions to track firearm purchases when people buy them with credit and debit cards. That's why my last two gun purchases were with cash.

Newsweek posted an opinion piece by Representatives Elise Stefanik & Andy Barr on their legislative fight over this weaponization.

It begins with:

Under the Biden-Harris Administration, there has been an unconstitutional and relentless attack on the Second Amendment rights and privacies of American citizens. In September 2023, gun-grabbing organizations and far Left politicians including New York Attorney General Letitia James cheered on the creation of a new Merchant Category Code (MCC) for firearms retailers within the payment processing system.

MCCs, seemingly introduced for regulatory or monitoring purposes, carry significant implications for the privacy of consumers and equitable treatment of lawful transactions.

The creation of MCCs specifically for firearms retailers is weaponizing the financial system against lawful gun owners by seeking to label and track transactions on firearms and ammunition. To counteract this infringement on our rights, we introduced the Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act.

Our bill aims to ensure that firearms retailers are not unjustly targeted by payment card networks or other financial entities, and purchases by law-abiding citizens are protected from monitoring and denial by the government. Specifically, our bill ensures that firearms retailers are not considered differently than general or sporting goods merchants.

This protection preserves the privacy of Americans making lawful purchases, prevents the creation of a backdoor registry of gun owners, and guarantees that legal commerce is not unfairly surveilled or impeded based on the nature of the goods sold.

Dodgers Win World Series, But...

While I am glad that the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series in Yankee Stadium last night, I can't get past the fact that I am done with them and Major League Baseball in general. I did not watch any of the games.

The reasons were their support for the Black Lives Matter Marxist group. I stated my outrage here. That was later reinforced when Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star Game from Atlanta in 2020. I wrote about that here.

Then, the Dodgers did something even more stupid last year:

But inclusion for some has come to mean exclusion for others. As part of their Pride Night celebrations, the Dodgers invited, then uninvited, then reinvited the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence," a self-described "Order of queer and trans nuns" who "use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry."

Their target is frequently the Catholic Church. The group's roster includes such faux-religious ribaldry as Sister Risqué of the Sissytine Chapel, Father Fellatio, Sister Missionary Position, and other less printable mockery of traditional Catholic figures and beliefs. Their motto: "Go forth and sin some more!"

The Dodgers saw fit to bestow the team's Community Hero Award on the group, despite a fairly pedestrian record of actual impact; per their documents filed with the IRS, the group offers modest grants, between $50,000 and $60,000 to community groups each year. Backlash ensued, but after an initial backtrack, the team reinvited the "Sisters."

The news came as a betrayal to many longtime Dodger fans, who remembered devout Catholic Vin Scully melodically commentating games for 67 seasons, the "Nuns Days" that used to fill Chavez Ravine with (real) wimples and habits, and the Catholic Bronze Star recipient Gil Hodges playing at first base. The Dodgers seemed content to throw that history away, to the dismay of Catholics like Bishop Robert Barron, until recently an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who called for a boycott of the team.

Since I was already done with the Dodgers and Major League Baseball, I didn't bother to comment on that.  

I will always treasure being a Dodger fan while the team was owned by Walter and Peter O'Malley. But, I am no longer a fan under the current ownership. 

Biden Dons Trump Hat In Shanksville

During the debate, former President Donald Trump said that Joe Biden "hates" Kamala Harris. I think he was joking, but the following makes one wonder.

While at the Shanksville, Pennsylvania memorial ceremonies, Biden donned a MAGA Trump hat. This set social media ablaze.

President Joe Biden briefly donned a red "Trump 2024" hat during a visit to a Shanksville, Pennsylvania fire station, in what the White House described as a gesture of unity on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

"At the Shanksville Fire Station, @POTUS spoke about the country's bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that," White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates posted on social media.

Bates said Biden gave a hat to a Trump supporter in the crowd as a friendly gesture. The supporter then asked Biden to put on a Trump cap in the name of bipartisanship, and the president went along, briefly wearing the red hat.

Winnebago Among Newsweek’s ‘Most Trustworthy Companies’

Winnebago has been named as a "most trustworthy company" by Newsweek for 2024. That's nice to hear since I've read of manufacturing problems within the RV industry since the end of the pandemic.

I am really not surprised since my 2015 Winnebago Minnie Winnie has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned.

According to an article in RV Business:

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Winnebago Industries (NYSE: WGO), a leading outdoor recreation product manufacturer, has been named by Newsweek to its 2024 Most Trustworthy Companies in America list. The respected ranking focuses on a holistic view of trust that considers three pillars: customer trust, employee trust, and investor trust.

Newsweek’s Most Trustworthy Companies list recognizes the top 700 companies in the United States, with a revenue of over $500 million, spanning 23 industries.

Illegal Aliens Have Second Amendment Rights, Judge Rules

The world is getting crazier and crazier.

A judge appointed by Barack Obama in Illinois ruled that illegal aliens have Second Amendment rights like U.S. Citizens. 

Since we all have to go through a background check when purchasing a firearm, how will illegals be checked for criminal histories? Does our system have access to criminal records of foreign countries?

Newsweek reported:

A judge this month dropped gun charges against an illegal migrant in Illinois, sparking further debate about the rights associated with the Second Amendment.

U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Coleman of the Northern District of Illinois referenced lower court rulings in dismissing firearm possession charges against Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who was illegally or unlawfully in the United States when he possessed a handgun in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago on June 1, 2020.

"The Court finds that Carbajal-Flores' criminal record, containing no improper use of a weapon, as well as the non-violent circumstances of his arrest do not support a finding that he poses a risk to public safety such that he cannot be trusted to use a weapon responsibly and should be deprived of his Second Amendment right to bear arms in self-defense," Coleman, who was appointed under President Barack Obama, wrote in her eight-page ruling filed March 8.

Whistleblower: US Has UFO Retrieval Program

Here's one that could be from an episode of the X-Files.

A Pentagon whistleblower claims that the U.S. has an Unidentified Flying Object retrieval program. This government program allegedly has alien spacecraft that had either landed or crashed and the occupants found inside.

American Liberty News reported:

A prominent former member of the United States Intelligence Community (IC) says the U.S. government is in possession of intact aircraft not made of this Earth and the bodies of their non-human pilots.

“I thought it was totally nuts, and I thought at first I was being deceived,” Air Force veteran David Grusch, 36, said after allegedly being told of the above top secret program by senior intelligence officials.

Newsweek has more on the startling claims:

“These are retrieving non-human origin technical vehicles, call it spacecraft if you will, non-human exotic origin vehicles that have either landed or crashed,” Grusch said. He added that, in those wreckages, the pilots of the craft were found.

Fox News Compared To Bud Light After Parting With Tucker Carlson

Fox News, in terminating the contract it had with its highest-rated host Tucker Carlson, is now being compared to Bud Light.

Following the announcement of Carlson's departure from Fox News, rumors have been spreading including one that Carlson will be going to OAN (One America News Network) and another stating that Carlson as filed a one billion dollar lawsuit against Fox News.

We'll have to wait until the dust settles before things become clear. If this was a firing and the Fox News press release was just sugar-coating it, this is tantamount to killing the hen who laid golden eggs.

The abrupt exit of Fox News host Tucker Carlson from the conservative network has quickly spawned several comparisons to the Bud Light-Dylan Mulvaney controversy that has led to reduced sales and market shares for the beer giant.

Carlson and Fox News Media "agreed to part ways" on Monday morning in a move that has shaken up the entire cable news industry as well as the conservative movement that Carlson himself championed for nearly a decade as host.

Following the announcement, Fox News' share price instantly dropped nearly 5 percent to $31.85 per share before slightly bouncing back to $32.50 per share by early afternoon—still a decrease of almost 4 percent compared to last week, according to MarketWatch.

It is unclear if Carlson's departure is related to the settlement ($787.5 million) of a lawsuit between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News last week or of the departure of Dan Bongino from Fox News.

Californians Told Not To Charge Their Electric Vehicles

California, the state who wants to end sales of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035, is telling people not to charge their electric vehicles over this coming Labor Day weekend. With the current heat wave, the state's power grid can't handle it and blackouts may occur.

High Gas Prices: Part of the Liberal World Order

Biden says we'll have to pay high gas prices for "as long as it takes."

Then his advisor Brian Deese said on CNN, "This is about the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm."

This is causing a firestorm, to put it mildly.

Newsweek, not exactly a bastion of conservative thought, posted:

President Joe Biden's adviser Brian Deese is facing a backlash online after answering a question on the fairness of high gas prices by highlighting the importance of the "liberal world order," and a video clip of the moment has since gone viral.

Deese was speaking to CNN's Victor Blackwell on Thursday and reflected on comments Joe Biden made during his speech at the NATO summit in Madrid on the same day.

Biden was asked by a reporter: "How long is it fair to expect American drivers and drivers around the world to pay that premium for this war?"

The president replied: "As long as it takes," insisting that Russia could not be allowed to win the conflict against Ukraine and then potentially menace other nations.

Deese and Biden have been ridiculed on Twitter over the clip.

"The Biden administration cares more about the liberal world order than American families," Former White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp tweeted.

"The 'Liberal World Order' we need to wake up and realize what we really are up against. Biden is nothing more than a puppet for the radical left," Fox News contributor Sara A. Carter tweeted.

"Is Brian Dese a Republican plant? Because this is the easiest midterm ad content I've ever seen," Republican communicator Matt Whitlock tweeted.

Lunar Eclipse Was Eclipsed By Clouds

Last night's lunar eclipse was a dud.

At least that's as far as Jamestown, New Mexico was concerned. Before the eclipse, cloud cover moved into the area, obscuring any views of it. Oh, well.

I've seen many others before, so it wasn't too much of a loss for me.

According to Newsweek:

A total lunar eclipse appeared in the night sky, with people across the globe enjoying a spectacular phenomenon—and photographers took the opportunity to capture the dazzling celestial event.

A total lunar eclipse happens when the sun, Earth and moon form a near-perfect line-up in space. During these moments, which only occur during a full moon, the Earth casts a shadow on our natural satellite, changing its color and brightness.

What States Don't Have Daylight Savings Time

As of 2:00 a.m. today, Daylight Savings Time began. 

Well, it began everywhere in the U.S. except for two states and some other areas within the U.S.

Newsweek posted an article on the history of Daylight Savings Time and what states and areas who don't participate with it.

They begin it with:

Daylight saving time (DST) goes into effect at 2am local time this Sunday, with clocks moving forward one hour, giving most Americans one less hour in bed but one more hour of sunshine to enjoy. That is until November when clocks go back once again.

However not all states take part in this time change.

DST was implemented in the U.S. in 1918 during WWI as a way to save energy. Since then, amid repeals, federal laws and exemptions, many states have proposed the idea of scrapping the practice, preferring to stick to Standard time or abide by DST permanently. Most of the proposals have been unsuccessful.

People's Convoy Route and Timetable

The People's Convoy, protesting COVID-19 mandates in the U.S., is heading east along Interstate 40 today. What's even more interesting (to me) is that it will pass through my neck of the woods.

According to Newsweek:

A convoy of American truckers will leave from Adelanto, California, on Wednesday to complete an 11-day journey to the nation's capital, where the group plans to hold a protest demanding that all COVID 19-related mandates are lifted across the country.

The group, dubbed the People's Convoy, is inspired by the protesters of the so-called Freedom Convoy in Canada, who occupied Ottawa for 24 days and blocked various border crossings into the U.S. to protest the country's pandemic restrictions, particularly the federal vaccine mandate for cross-border commercial truck drivers. This past Sunday, Ottawa police cleared out the remaining demonstrators, arresting 191 people and towing 57 vehicles after more than three weeks of protests.

"To our brave and courageous neighbors to the North — our Canadian brothers and sisters who led the charge — we join your call to Freedom with THE PEOPLE'S CONVOY," the Canadian protesters' American counterparts wrote on a website.

Something else caught my eye. The convoy will rest up in Lupton, Arizona tomorrow night. Lupton is where the Tee Pee Trading Post (that I frequent) and Speedy's Truck Stop are located. I am sure both businesses will get some good business from the convoy participants.

Morning: Depart Kingman, Arizona, and head east on I-40 toward Lupton, Arizona
Evening: Arrive in Lupton for an overnight stay

NASA Finds Over 5,000 Potential Alien Worlds

We are not alone. 

Well, maybe, maybe not. But the idea that there may be some life-sustaining planets out in the universe is tantalizing to consider.

NASA has found over 5,000 potential alien worlds, some of which, as a Newsweek article says, are weird.

They begin with:

The number of exoplanet candidates detected by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) recently surpassed 5,000, and Newsweek has collected some of the weird and exciting worlds that have been discovered over the years.

The TESS mission, launched in 2018 and led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), helps scientists to discover distant worlds outside of our solar system.

These worlds, called exoplanets, can be discovered whenever they pass in front of their stars along the telescope's line of sight. When this happens, the star's brightness appears to dip repeatedly.

Newsweek: Millions of Angry, Armed Americans Stand Ready to Seize Power If Trump Loses in 2024

It seems that liberals and other leftist groups are beginning to panic over the upcoming 2022 and 2024 elections. They are indulging in a growing belief that there will be a civil war (of sorts) if Donald Trump loses.

Contrary to what the liberal media has been saying about the manipulated 2020 elections, there's plenty of  evidence that something mighty fishy went on during the wee hours of election night that put His Fraudulency Joe Biden into the White House. Nobody can ever convince me that the 2020 election was "fair and square".

Newsweek posted an article whose premise is that if Trump loses in 2024 (that's provided he even runs) that "millions of angry, armed Americans stand ready to seize power."

They wrote:

America's massive and mostly Republican gun-rights movement dovetails with a growing belief among many Republicans that the federal government is an illegitimate tyranny that must be overthrown by any means necessary. That combustible formula raises the threat of armed, large-scale attacks around the 2024 presidential election—attacks that could make the January 6 insurrection look like a toothless stunt by comparison. "The idea that people would take up arms against an American election has gone from completely farfetched to something we have to start planning for and preparing for," says University of California, Los Angeles law professor Adam Winkler, an expert on gun policy and constitutional law.

Both Democrats and Republicans are rapidly losing faith in the integrity of U.S. elections. Democrats worry that voter suppression and election interference from Republican state officials will deny millions of Americans their say at the polling booths. A PBS NewsHour/ NPR/ Marist poll in early November reported that 55 percent of Democrats saw voter suppression as the biggest threat to U.S. elections. Republicans claim, contrary to the evidence, that Democrats have already manipulated vote counts through fraud to steal a presidential election. An October CNN poll found that more than three-quarters of Republicans falsely believe Joe Biden's 2020 election win was fraudulent.

If armed violence erupts the 2024 elections, quelling it could fall to the U.S. military, which may be reluctant to take arms against U.S. citizens. In that case, the fate of the nation might well be decided by a simple fact: a big subset of one of the two parties has for years been systemically arming itself for this very reason.

"I hope it's just too crazy to happen here," says Erica De Bruin, an assistant professor of government at Hamilton College, who studies coups around the world. "But it's now in the realm of the plausible."

I think it is a little too soon to worry if people will take up arms and seize the government in the aftermath of the 2024 election. If they do, the Democrats would only have themselves to blame since they've made a mess of the economy, reignited the worst inflation since the the 1970s, the Afghanistan debacle, threatening to pack the Supreme Court, imposing Marxism/socialism and other chicanery. 

The incompetence of Joe Biden and the Democrats are so plainly visible, the 2022 mid-term elections may make any kind of insurrection in 2024 totally unnecessary if congress is decidedly flipped, especially if the mid-term elections are seen as clean and honest.

Study: New Volcanoes Could Emerge Anywhere In US Southwest

Along Interstate 40 near the town of Grants, New Mexico, there is an ancient lava field. There have been no eruptions in the area for thousands (or millions) of years.

All that could change. At least that's according to an article in Newsweek.

They wrote:

Dead volcanoes, seen throughout the southwestern United States, are evidence of volcanic fields that could wipe out infrastructure and disrupt air travel if new volcanoes erupt, a new study says. And researchers say that could happen at any time.

Over the past 2.58 million years, known as the Quaternary geologic period, some 1,800 volcanoes pockmarked the region straddling Arizona, parts of California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. If the Pinacate volcanic field in the Mexican state of Sonora is included, the number rises to more than 2,200. Some emerged as recently as 1,000 years ago.

These volcanoes are known as monogenetic, meaning "one life."

"A monogenetic volcano will erupt once, and that eruption may last several days to several decades, but after that, the volcano is basically dead," said volcanologist and study co-author Greg Valentine.

The paper published by Valentine and his colleagues in the journal Geoscience notes that although the volcanoes examined no longer pose a threat, they may reveal the potential for new eruptions.

"Monogenetic volcanoes tend to occur in areas that we call volcanic fields, and the American Southwest is just dotted with these," said Valentine, adding that no one knows when or where future eruptions will occur.

Sheriffs Won't Enforce Newsom's Curfew

California county sheriffs are rebelling against Gov. Gavin Newsom by not enforcing Newsom's 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew.

According to Newsweek:

Multiple California sheriffs say they will refuse to enforce California Governor Gavin Newsom's new curfew designed to slow the rapid spread of COVID-19.

Newsom announced on Thursday that due to the virus "spreading at a pace we haven't seen since the start of this pandemic," he was issuing a "limited" stay-at-home order that will go into effect on Saturday, including a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in areas that comprise over 94 percent of the state's population. Shortly after the announcement was made, several county sheriffs insisted they would defy the governor by not enforcing the curfew.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said that she would refuse to "make criminals out of normally law abiding citizens" by enforcing the order during a news briefing, adding that she had not "seen any data that shows" the virus spreads more at night. When announcing the order, Newsom said that the curfew was intended to limit opportunities for the virus to spread by reducing the amount of overall contacts between people.

The Democrats' Scheme To Stack The Supreme Court

If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win and the Democrats retake the U.S. Senate and retain their majority in the House, the spectre of packing (or stacking) the U.S. Supreme Court with additional justices, all radical liberals, could become a reality. If that should happen, you can kiss your constitutional rights, such as the Second Amendment, goodbye. That will almost guarantee a new civil war.

Biden and Harris have so far dodged questions on court-packing and ending the senate's filibuster rule.

"They'll know my opinion on court-packing when the election is over," Biden said in Arizona. Harris, during the primary campaign, came out in favor of court-packing.

Mike Davis, founder of The Article III Project and President and founder of Internet Accountability Project, wrote in Newsweek.com:

Enter court-packing. The call to add seats to the Supreme Court is so extreme that even President Franklin D. Roosevelt was unable to achieve it at a time when Congress rubber-stamped the rest of his agenda. In 1937, FDR proposed adding six justices to the nation's highest bench (one for every justice over the age of 70), to flip the Court to one that would allow his unconstitutional New Deal policies to stand. Congress—overwhelmingly controlled by FDR's own party—rejected the idea, and the number nine has remained secure...until now.

How is such a radical idea even possible? The Constitution does not specify how many justices sit on the Supreme Court. We have not always had nine Supreme Court justices. At first, we had six justices, all appointed by President George Washington. Over the next 80 years, the number fluctuated, but it has remained at nine since 1869—more than 150 years ago, right after the Civil War.

If Democrats, who already control the House of Representatives, maintain that majority and also retake the Senate and the White House, Americans should expect them to attempt this extreme court-packing scheme. Congress, led by a Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and a Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), would determine the number of justices. A President Biden would certainly sign any such legislation passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress. This is not hysteria: Biden and Harris include "structural court reforms" in their 2020 Democratic Party platform.

Currently, the Senate—created by our Founders as the "cooling saucer" for the hot tea sent over by the House—operates with a procedure known as a filibuster. In short, a filibuster requires approval from 60 of the 100 senators as a procedural hurdle to clear in order to pass most legislation. Any court-packing proposal is subject to the filibuster rule. Assuming that Senate Republicans employ the filibuster during a Biden-Harris administration, Democrats could respond by "going nuclear"—eliminating the legislative filibuster and lowering the vote threshold from 60 to 51.

The Senate has operated with the legislative filibuster since the 1830s. With it eliminated, the Senate could pass a court-packing scheme by a simple majority vote. The liberal-controlled House of Representatives, which already operates by a simple majority, also would pass it—and a President Biden (or a President Harris, if he doesn't make it that long) would sign it. The number of justices would then change from nine to 11 or more—new seats the president would quickly fill with left-wing politicians in black robes.

Court-packing will lead America to a very dangerous dead end, as these liberal justices will take away our constitutional rights to speak, associate, worship and protect our families. And that's the Democrats' plan, even if Biden and Harris won't publicly admit it. The year 2020 has proven that Democrats have no qualms about destroying America as we know it.

That is why it is vital to re-elect President Trump and vote for Republican legislative candidates.

Monster Hybrid Tumbleweeds In California

Above, attacking tumbleweeds from the Outer Limits.

In October 1964, the Outer Limits television show broadcast the episode, "Cry of Silence". In this episode, tumbleweeds possessed by an alien intelligence are attacking people in a rural area.

Every time I see a tumbleweed, I think of that episode. It's one of my favorites.

Now, here's a story from Newsweek concerning monster hybrid tumbleweeds that are taking over California.

They wrote:

Monster Hybrid Tumbleweed Species Is Taking Over California, Scientists Say 

August 27, 2019 A new invasive species of tumbleweed that can grow up to six feet in height is taking over parts of California—and scientists are warning it could spread even further as climate change makes its growing conditions more favorable. 

Salsola ryanii was first identified in California in 2002. It is a hybrid made up of two other invasive species—Salsola tragus, which is native to Russia and China, and Salsola australis, from Australia and South Africa. The latter, scientists say, is "one of the world's worst weeds" and is currently found in 48 U.S. states. The new species, is however, far bigger and faster growing than its parents, reaching about six feet in height.  

Maybe these tumbleweeds will gobble up more than a few radical leftists.
