Today has been relaxing and recreational.
After coffee this morning with neighbor Bo at Denny's in the Flying J, I headed up the hill in the Jeep to visit another friend, Larry Lucier. We visited for about 45 minutes about vehicles and stuff happening around locally.
I then headed home and had an Alien Amber Ale on the deck and enjoying the weather and view. One of P.K.'s kittens is starting to come nearer to me. It is still a bit leery, but getting braver. It saw P.K. rubbing herself against my legs and probably figured I'm friendly.
I decided to take the Jeep down to the Flying J to fill the gas tank. Since the gas gauge doesn't work (it is rated at 24 volts, but the Jeep had been modified to 12 volts), I have no way of knowing how much fuel is inside the tank.

Some Jeep websites suggest cutting a wooden yardstick down to 18 inches to use as a dip-in measuring stick. That would work except the gasoline intake line has a flap in the way. The tank holds 17 gallons. I put in a little over 4 gallons today. No wonder people bring along extra cans of gasoline (Jerry cans).
While filling the gas tank, Nandoh pulled up behind me and we proceeded to "shoot the bull" for a while. His 1962 Jeep doesn't have a gas gauge. But he can do the yardstick method as his gasoline intake line doesn't have a flap.
Following the stop at the Flying J, I decided to take a little cruise on the roads to the community shooting area for the fun of it before heading home.
Once I got home I put the Jeep and the Mustang into the garage for the night. Maybe I'll drive the Jeep further into Six Mile Canyon tomorrow since I know how much gasoline I have.
