Along The Way At Fort Wingate Army Depot

Above, the Jeep at the former Fort Wingate Army Depot entrance. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The Jeep is now in the shop in Gallup to have the new gas tank installed.

The Jeep should done in a few hours (Carl, the shop's owner, says about three hours). I am also having some minor things done while it's there (an oil change for one).

Above, another shot, one that I had to cross over a cattle guard to take. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Along the way on Route 66, I stopped at the gateway to the Fort Wingate Army Depot for a photo opportunity. I would hazard a guess that the Depot saw many Jeeps on its grounds over the years. I took a couple of quick photos of the Jeep at the gate and then headed back on Route 66 to Gallup.

The photos accompany this blog post.

From what Martin Link was telling us back in February, an agreement on the future of Fort Wingate (except for the Depot) may be close. But since we have not had any dinners due to the quarantine, I haven't heard anything new.
