Getting The Swamp Cooler Ready For Summer

Most of today was devoted to installing some new pads for the swamp cooler.

When friend Nandoh removed the panels, we found that the pads were badly calcified and needed replacing. It had been at least three years since the last time they were replaced.

Also, we found some of the valves, float, water line and fittings were corroded. Those, too, needed replacing. We then headed to Home Depot in Gallup.

All of the New Mexico State Police checkpoints were gone as the city was reopened at noon today.

When we got to Home Depot, we found what we needed in a section of the store devoted to swamp and other kinds of coolers. While there, I went to see if they had any chaise lounges, but they didn't. One of the workers told me that they didn't sell well last year, so they eliminated the stock. They can be ordered online, though.

We got back to Jamestown and while Nandoh went to replace the pads on his swamp cooler, I proceeded to take out the old pads and put the new ones in the panels. It was an easier task than I expected. Learned a lot about swamp coolers today.

After Nandoh was done with his swamp cooler at his home, he came over to put in the new float, valves fittings and water line in mine.

After getting all those items taken care of, we tested the swamp cooler and it worked great.
