Six Mile Canyon: Road Closed

Above, today at the corral. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Now that I have a gas tank in the Jeep that doesn't leak, I thought I'd take a drive to the turn-off a couple of miles from McGaffey to explore that road. It leads to State Highway 400.

Above, I was heading to the road this sign pointed right to. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Unfortunately, even though I now have a reliable gas tank, those plans were thwarted today when I spotted a sign that said, "Road Closed Ahead". Oh-oh!

Above, it looks like the road's closed ahead. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

I drove ahead to see whereabouts the road was closed. It was just before the grassy valley in the canyon. Beyond the valley is the section of Six Mile Canyon Road that heads up to McGaffey.

Well, I just turned around and headed back to Jamestown. The closure shouldn't be too long. I'll check on it in a few days.

It was nice out with temperatures in the low 60s due to a cold front that came through the area.

Thankfully, the stimulus check covered the cost of the gas tank and the installation (the installation was cheaper than expected) with several hundred dollars left over, which I used to get a chaise lounge for the deck. That should be delivered around June 2.
